Description

AMITAYUS MANDALA (Tib: Tsepagme khyil.khor)

The Buddha of Infinite Life is identical with Amithaba, the Buddha residing in Sukhavati, the joyous pure land. The practice extends one’s lifespan and it became popular in Tibet due to its blessing of life-enhancing empowerments and rituals. He is presented in the centre of the Mandala (palace) by the red syllable HRI, symbolic of his most subtle mind and surrounded by his eight manifestations. The Mandala is used for initiation purpose only and its viewing is regarded as a blessing.
