MEDICINE BUDDHA MANDALA ( Sangyae menlha. kyil.khor )
The Medicine Buddha or ‘great king with the radiance of a lapis jewel’ is the embodiment pf all the Buddhas’ healing qualities. The centre of the Mandala depicts the Tibetan book of the four medical tantras ( Vimalasutra – mendo gye.gye.pa ).
The inner petals depict the symbols of the eight Medicine Gurus ( the seven Medicine Buddhas and Buddha Shakyamuni ). The middle ring of petals depict the symbols for the sixteen major Bodhisattvas and the outer ring show the symbols for the ten guardians and twelve generals ( Yakhas). The Mandala is used for initiation purpose only and its viewing regarded as a blessing and healing.
